Steps

   Carry a notebook around between classes. If you have notes on your subjects it proves that you were listening to your teacher and will help you when it comes to test time.
2. Ask questions. If you don't understand something it's best to get help since when it comes to test time you'll most likely ace it. Make up some questions and keep on talking in class.
3. Complete homework and assignments on time. If you do this regularly your grade should be much higher than if you don't do it at all. Send them first in class to impress your teacher more.
4. Don't goof off in class. If you do this you're most likely to get in trouble and it will ruin your reputation with the teacher. And even when someone else comes up with a bright idea, you must pretend that you were thinking on the same lines. Use quips like "I was about to say that .. " and "Exactly".
5. Don't Talk to back bencher's in class, it will ruin your reputation. They claim to have the most experience, will have worldly views, usually indulge in nefarious activities, they think all the methods used by teachers are wrong and that they are going to revolutionize, over-throwing the existing system.
6. Go into extracurricular classes (Tell everyone about your activities). It's great to learn another language or go into reading groups to challenge yourself and others subjects should come easily. Also pretend to be interested in everything and try your hand at all activities, whether you are genuinely interested or not.
7. Don't get distracted by anyone going in or out of the class because this may grab your mind out from the studies going on. Make friends with the teachers favorite students.
8. Be confident to yourself while giving any answer to the questions asked by the teachers or do not hesitate to ask any question to the teacher, friend or anybody else except in the case of tests. Even a silly question can help you in the way to get out of trouble.
9. Complete all extensions to lessons, to prove you understand it and your teacher might even make you stand at the front of the class and tell the class what to do.
10. Talk very fast with lots of gestures. That may help confuse people and give the impression that you are really bright.
11. One of the main things that decides a person's or child's future is their behavior. Learning textbooks and achieving 100% is not enough. People should think that you are the only all-rounder that has good manners. Obey your elders, don't bully your classmates at school.
12. Run for class president/school council or something like that. Even if you think it's geeky, have a go! You might actually make it cool!
13. Go to school with the attitude to learn! If you are thinking that you will totally fail the test, think again! When you learn something new, you are one step closer to being smart.
